What to do In Florence

The city of Florence is a popular destination for numerous tourists every year. It’s not hard to see why. The capital of the Tuscan region boasts fantastic architecture, wonderful cuisine and a beautiful climate. Many visitors can’t stop returning to this magical place.

So how should you spent the perfect day in Florence? You may have your own ideas, but there are some elements to being here that simply shouldn’t be missed. The Italians don’t eat a massive amount for breakfast, but you might start the day with a coffee and a small pastry.

Where could you look to start sightseeing? You might begin by visiting the Duomo – getting there early offers a great opportunity to avoid the crowds. Climb the campanile (bell tower) and you can get a great view of the city. Time for a stroll down towards the Ponte Vecchio, the famous bridge across the Arno.

With its collection of shops, this is a great chance to browse and see if anything catches your eye. Before long, it’ll be time for lunch. It has to be pizza!

The afternoon should give you the chance to visit the Uffizi gallery – one of the most important art galleries in the world. Enjoy looking at the fine pieces of Renaissance art.

For dinner, it really must be a trattoria – these traditional restaurants offer great quality meals at very reasonable prices. Don’t have dessert while you’re there! Why not? Because you’ll want to grab an ice cream during your evening walk. Walking around the city at night is a real delight and what could be better than ending the day with a traditional Italian ice cream?

You can spend days in Florence keeping yourself entertained, but the above suggestions should allow you to enjoy the ideal day in this beautiful Italian city.
